LENS-Care Emergency Donation for Immigrants was created in response to the challenges immigrant families face today amid recent changes in immigration policies and growing economic and legal hardships. Many families now live with uncertainty and fear, facing the possible deportation of a main provider or the sudden loss of income, which leads to deep emotional, social, and financial crises that threaten family stability and cause emotional trauma due to separation.
LENS CARE’s purpose and focus are to organize donation efforts that address the most urgent needs of our Latino and immigrant community. Each campaign adapts to what families and older adults are experiencing at any given moment, allowing us to respond quickly to emerging situations. Guided directly by the voices of the community, LENS CARE mobilizes fast—collecting and delivering donations immediately rather than waiting for outside systems to respond. Our work is hands-on, direct, and centered on getting support to families as soon as possible. This year, LENS CARE is prioritizing the urgent needs of immigrant families facing unexpected emergencies.
