What We Do

Connecting, Listening, and
Empowering the Latino Community

At Latinos in Evanston NorthShore (LENS), we pride ourselves on building genuine connections rooted in trust and human engagement. Since our founding, the voices of the community have guided our work. Through conversations, surveys, and ongoing engagement, we listen closely to the needs and experiences of Latino families and older adults in our area—ensuring that our programs, resources, and support reflect their priorities and make a meaningful impact.

Our Focus Areas & Programs

At LENS, we listen closely to the voices of our community, and this has guided us to focus on the areas that matter most: education, access to resources, strong support networks, and cultural celebrations that strengthen latino identity. These priorities shape our programs and ensure we meet both current and emerging needs.

Education

Learning opens doors. Through classes, clubs, and hands-on training, LENS helps Latino adults gain skills, confidence, and connection — from mastering English and technology to celebrating the power of reading together.

Culture & Community

From heritage festivals to holiday gatherings, LENS fosters spaces where Latino culture thrives. Our programs highlight tradition, celebrate identity, and build unity through art, storytelling, and shared experiences.

Support Networks

LENS builds a foundation of care and connection for our Latino community. Through programs that uplift families, honor our elders, and empower women, we respond to real needs with compassion, dignity, and hope — ensuring that no one stands alone.

Together, these key activities build bridges of opportunity, celebrate our culture, and create a thriving, resilient Latino community in Evanston and beyond.
